Investment and Funding: Circ Secures 25 Million Dollars to Accelerate Commercialization of Fashion Recycling Technology

US based textile recycling innovator Circ has announced the completion of a 25 million dollar funding round. The investment was led by Carbon Ventures, the climate focused fund under Taranis, with continued participation from existing investors Inditex and materials company Avery Dennison. As Circ moves from pilot scale to commercial deployment, the new funding supports both technological implementation and global business expansion.

Tackling Blended Fabric Recycling: Circ’s Breakthrough Solution

Founded in Danville, Virginia, Circ was created to solve a longstanding problem in textile waste: the recycling of polycotton blends. These materials, made of polyester and cotton, are notoriously difficult to recycle because the two components cannot be easily separated using traditional methods. Circ has developed a proprietary chemical process that liquefies the polyester while preserving the cotton fibers, allowing for effective separation and reuse of both inputs.

What sets Circ’s technology apart is its low environmental footprint. The process avoids high levels of energy and water consumption and retains material quality, making the recycled fibers suitable for use in new fashion products. Circ is building a global supply chain framework called Circ Ready to enable traceable recovery and standardized reuse of materials.

From Zara to Christian Siriano: Brand Validation Across the Market

Circ’s innovation has been tested by multiple fashion brands. In April 2023, Zara launched its first collection using Circ recycled materials, including garments made from regenerated polyester and lyocell. A second collection followed in August, featuring four new products with 50 percent of the fiber content sourced from textile waste. The result was a series of garments with silk like appearance and feel, showcasing both the aesthetic and functional viability of Circ’s materials.

The company has also partnered with independent designer Christian Siriano, Japanese brand United Arrows, and American sustainable label Mara Hoffman to further expand its reach.

Beyond Capital: Taranis Brings Industrialization Expertise

As the lead investor in this round, Taranis contributes more than just capital. Founded by energy giant Perenco, Taranis specializes in scaling sustainable industrial projects. This partnership will give Circ access to world class engineering and operational support as it prepares to open its first industrial scale facility for blended fabric recycling.

“Our mission is to make circularity the norm, not the exception,” said Circ CEO Peter Majeranowski. “Taranis’s involvement marks a pivotal transition from proof of concept to full scale implementation.”

Taranis CEO Emmanuel Colombel added that Circ’s technical maturity is rare in fashion recycling, and the focus now is on impact. “We invest in scalable, verifiable decarbonization technologies. Circ fits that vision perfectly

Ongoing Support from Inditex and Avery Dennison

The continued investment from Inditex (Zara’s parent company) and Avery Dennison sends a strong signal. Their support affirms confidence in Circ’s commercial potential. Inditex’s collaboration with Circ offers a blueprint for how mainstream brands can incorporate recycled materials at scale. Avery Dennison’s expertise in supply chain labeling and traceability may further enhance Circ’s capabilities in transparency and lifecycle tracking.

This round marks another milestone following Circ’s 30 million dollar Series B in 2022, which was led by Breakthrough Energy Ventures. The company’s development roadmap is becoming clear: technological reliability, market validation, capital acceleration, and industrial capacity.

Recycling as the Starting Point of Fashion’s Future

Circ is not positioning itself as an eco label, but as a materials technology company reshaping the foundation of the fashion supply chain. The goal is zero compromise-recycled inputs must match the quality and aesthetic appeal of virgin materials. Fashion brands are responding, with Circ’s textiles becoming an integral part of contemporary design.

Recycling textiles has never been glamorous work. It requires complex supply coordination, cross disciplinary innovation, and a mindset shift across the industry. Circ is building a system that is not only scalable but commercial, aiming to become the foundational infrastructure for circular fashion.

As recycling evolves into a basic industry function, this 25 million dollar funding round may mark the beginning of Circ’s transformation into a core platform powering the future of fashion.
